Welcome Back Year 6

 

Hi Kingfishers, I hope you and your families have enjoyed a lovely, even if somewhat different to usual, summer holidays. I have been impressed with how you have returned to school and the positive attitudes you have displayed for learning. What a great start to the year!

Author of the Year

 

In year 6 this year, our author of the year is Malorie Blackman. She has written over 50 popular books and in 2008 was given an OBE for her contributions to literature. Over the years, Malorie has received many other awards for her work including the Children’s Laureate. Some of her popular books for children include: Pig Heart Boy, Hacker and Operation Gadgetman. She has also written many thought-provoking books for young adults.

Home Learning

 

Please find home learning for the week below. These home learning tasks aim to focus on improving key skills: spellings, arithmetic and reading. Please read for a minimum of 15 minutes at least 5/7 days- you can log this on the form below. When completing the arithmetic paper, questions 17, 18, 21, 25, 27, 30, 31, 32, 35, 36 are skills that we haven't practised yet. You can skip these for now or challenge yourself and give them a go.

When you have completed your tasks, upload them to Seesaw.

Daily Reading

You should be reading for 20 minutes a day at least 5 days a week. This can be alone or with an adult.
