Welcome to the PFTA at St Mary’s
What is the PTFA? It stands for Parent Teachers & Friends Association. The PTFA is made up from an enthusiastic group of people including parents, teachers, governors and friends of St Mary’s who help to organise events, both fund raising and social. We are a dedicated team of volunteers and new members are always very welcome.
Who we are:
The PTFA is made up of elected officers who are voted for during the AGM held in October each year. We also have a number of active helpers and members who assist with the running of events. The committee meets every six to eight weeks to discuss forthcoming events and how the funds raised might be spent.

Events that we get involved in include:
Summer Fair | Summer Social |
Easter Egg Hunt | School Discos |
Fireworks Night | Science & Engineering Fair |
Ground Force Days | Christmas Fair |
All fundraising events are aimed to benefit the children and school directly and to help with purchasing additional resources for the school or new equipment. The PFTA consults with the head teacher, teachers, TAs and children to see what items are most urgently required to set the aim for the next fundraising events.
We also think it is important to help subsidise school trips so that all children can benefit from these. We do this by setting up regular after school cake sales and all funds raised are put aside to enable this to happen.
We try to hold all events with minimal expenditure therefore maximising our fundraising opportunities. We have done this by utilising our own skills, time and effort and the various contacts and business links we have thanks to the generosity of parents, and by approaching local businesses for support.
Our focus is to work closely with the OPAL Steering Committee and support the delivery of the programme through a staged approach over an 18 month period. Our fundraising initially went towards some new welly sheds to house wellies for every pupil in the school and other priority OPAL purchases. Please see the OPAL section on the school website for more information on the project.

Fundraising schemes you can enter at home:
Easyfundraising.org.uk
We take part in various fundraising schemes, such as Easyfundraising.org.uk, which enables money to be raised for our school through online shopping. Each time you shop with a retailer that is part of the scheme, our school automatically receives a donation. This is a great scheme to be part of, as it involves no effort and we are hoping to expand it further to get local businesses as well as private individuals involved. https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/stmarysvaps/?fbclid=IwAR0Vf8fZVq8FQBFiXyGdoo1Cqn2N09rRBe7GJ1TiecKEEtmMGyI664LB1xU
