Pupil Premium

Tiered Offer – Pupil Premium

At St. Mary’sC of E VA Primary School, we offer a tiered approach to support our pupil premium offer. Please take a look at the information below to find out more.

You can apply for Pupil Premium which is a means tested benefit that comes to school to support your child as explained in the tiered offer below.

All children who currently qualify for free school meals based on their family circumstances are entitled to pupil premium. This applies if you receive any of the following benefits:

  • Universal credit (provided you have a net income of £7400 or less)
  • Income support
  • Income-based jobseekers’ allowance
  • Income-related employment and support allowance
  • Support under Part IV of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of state pension credit
  • Child tax credit, provided that you are not also entitled to working tax credit and have an annual gross income of £16,190 or less

Children who are or have been in care, and children who have a parent who is or was in the armed forces, are also entitled to pupil premium.

Pupils who have qualified for free school meals on the above grounds in the past, but are no longer eligible, continue to receive pupil premium for the next six years. This can be claimed even if your circumstances change temporarily e.g. redundancy, even for a very short period and this will stay in place for 6 years even if your circumstances change.

St. Mary’s C of E VA Primary School receives a Pupil Premium Grant for each child who is entitled to Free School meals or who has been entitled in the last six years. We have very small numbers of pupil premium children and as a result any really detailed information about impact would not be appropriate to publish as children are easily identifiable. The purpose of this money is to accelerate pupil progress and raise attainment and in particular have an impact on disadvantaged pupils.
