Prayer
The school worship team led a competition to write contributions towards the school prayer that will be read at the end of the day. We want to leave school feeling grateful and thankful.
Ten pupil's entries contributed to this prayer.
Windows, Mirrors and Doors Prayer
As we look through the window of this day,
Thank you for lighting our way.
We thank you for everyone in our school community,
Who help us flourish and grow,
For being included, supported and cared for,
For guiding us to be successful in our work.
As we look into the mirror and reflect on this day,
We are grateful for the gift of learning,
We are grateful for the gift of friendship,
We are grateful for being safe,
We are grateful for (pause for children to add their own thought)…………………………………………….
We are grateful to have you by our side
As we open the doors and go out into our community,
Bless us and everyone around us with kindness and love,
Help us to bring hope to those when all seems lost,
Help us to love our neighbours as ourselves,
Help us to shine in every way,
Help us to show others that ‘Nothing will be impossible with God’.
Prayer is central to daily life in school, opportunities are provided for prayer in all worship services. The display has a prayer dedication section, which is included in the school newsletter as well to inform parents and also a prayer basket for the school community to put prayers in. In addition prayers are said before lunch, at the end of day and at the start of governors’ meetings.
Each class has a reflection area where children can go and take time to reflect and pray.
Reflection Journals
Each class has a reflection journal. Pupils are encouraged to take time to be still and to reflect. We use the images of Windows, Mirrors and Doors to guide our reflection.
In Term 1, we have been learning what the Lord's Prayer means to us.
Our Father in heaven
Hallowed be your name
Your kingdom come
Your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread
And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever.
Amen
Our Father who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.
Amen
