Amy Wilson has a background in journalism and lives in Bristol with her young family. She is a graduate of the Bath Spa MA in Creative Writing and is the author of the critically acclaimed novels A Girl Called Owl – nominated for the CILIP Carnegie medal – and A Far Away Magic. Snowglobe is her third novel for Macmillan.
Amy attended St Mary's Primary and told the children of her own stories at school, including playing 'horses' on the field like our children do now!
Amy talked to the whole school and they came out of the hall absolutely buzzing about reading. They were so excited to get her books and just read. It was amazing. Amy commented on how well the children got involved in her talk and their enthusiasm for reading.
Amy signed books children had bought and we had so many requests she ran out of books! We are picking up some more of her books that she will sign in the next week or so.
After break, Amy led a writing workshop for a selection of Key Stage 2 children. She really inspired all of our children to write and read, and demonstrated how they too could become authors.
