Welcome to Flamingos
Year 3
For nothing will be impossible with God
Luke 1 v37
Summer Term Two… Value: Peace
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." Matthew5:9
On behalf of the staff and children of Year Three, we would like to extend a very warm welcome to our class page.
The final term! And what a year it has been! We have topics to finish, new learning to take place and revision or earlier learning. Let's hope the sun shines down on us to finish the year.
All of us individually are special, but together we make a wonderful flock ... a team ... a community ... a family!
The section below on our page will be used to provide a summary of Year 3's journey throughout the year. It will also be used to share some information.
As always, the door to our classroom is always open… 'We're all working together; that the secret'
Scroll down to view information and our journey!
If you have any questions please use the class email: SMT-Year3@sgmail.org.uk or feel free to talk to me at the end of the day

UPDATES
HOME ITEMS
We politely request that children do not bring any unnecessary items into school, eg teddies, keyrings (unless they remain firmly attached to a bag!), toys etc. We were still having items coming into school. These can cause a distraction if they are taken into the classroom and if used at breaktime there is the potential for them to be lost or broken.
Our Learning Journey This section of our class page will be used to provide you with an insight into our classroom and learning adventures. |
Our Summer Term Adventures
Science
In science this term we are learning about plants. We have thought about the parts of plants and their functions.
This week we were thinking about how water is transported through the plant. We have set up a fair test to see whether the temperature affects how water is transported through a plant. We put a white rose into a cup containing 200ml of water and 25 drops of food colouring. One of the cups have been placed in the fridge and one will remain in the classroom.
The children made predictions and most of them said they think the one in the classroom will work the best.
Our Spring Term Adventures
In DT we constructed Castles. We started by making the basic wall structure together. Then we added details and made it our own!
In Science we have been learning about Light. We investigated how shadows change when the distance between the light source and the object is increased/decreased.
Our Autumn Term 1 Adventures
SCIENCE
Today we investigated whether different surfaces affected how a car would travel along it. We found out that the smmother the surface the further the car travelled.
