1860 Trust Deed
On Monday 14th October, I attended a meeting with the Diocese. During the meeting we looked at St Mary's original Trust Deed of 1860. At that time St Mary's was a National School. The deed establishes the current site of the school. Of course St Mary's was first opened in 1839 but on a different site. Probably nearer the church.
The document is completely hand written in perfect script. It would have taken days to complete. At the bottom it is signed by the Archbishop Of Gloucester, John Timbrill.
A fantastic piece of school history I was very privileged to see and read.
1860 Original Trust Deed:
Who was John Timbrill?
John Timbrill was born in Pershore in 1773 and was Archdeacon of Gloucester from 14th May 1825 until his death in 1864. It is fantastic to see the actual handwritten signature of someone who lived over 160 years ago. It also includes his personal seal just after his name.
What do you think John would say about St Mary's today?
