Attendance
Attendance Matters
Unexpected Absence
If your child is unexpectedly absent due to illness or otherwise, please call the school office on 01454 866760 by 8.40am on the first day of absence to leave a message and provide their name, class and reason for absence. If no reason for absence is provided, it is marked as an unauthorised absence.
Please provide a daily update on their absence.
Absence due to Sickness and/or Diarrhoea
If your child has been sick or had diarrhoea, they must not return to school until 48 hours after the last episode of sickness or diarrhoea.
Planned Absence
Absence during school time will only be authorised under exceptional circumstances. If you need to request an absence please complete the absence form below and return to the school office.
Parental responsibilities
As a parent you have a legal responsibility to make sure your child gets a full-time education. You can find out more information on the government website.
Schools are required by law to keep attendance registers. Absences must either be marked as:
- authorised (only the school can authorise the absence) or
- unauthorised (where no acceptable reason is given)
Holidays in term time
In line with government guidance and legislation, parents are advised not to take holidays in term time. If holidays are taken during this time, schools can record such absences as unauthorised and a Penalty Notice (fine of up to £160 per parent per child) or other formal procedures may follow.
The council have also produced a parents and carers guide to penalty notices.
Medical/Dental Absence
If your child has a medical or dental appointment during school time, please complete the below medical form and return to the school office, along with the appointment letter or card.
Leavers Form
Printed copies of all forms are available from the school office.
